As we sat outside, the snowflakes began to fall. A white new years, indeed. There was going to be a double header post, but Ali's not feeling too good. so you're stuck with me. Your loss.
New Years resolutions have never carried much weight in my life, so I'm not going to bother with them this time. I think, however, that a few thank-yous are in order. So. without further ado...
Steve and Melissa.
I cannot stress how privileged I feel that I not only met you, but got to know you and spend time with you. You're the kind of people that I want to know more about, want to be more of a friend, want to spend more time with... I'm aware that I sound like a loser, or at least a very lonely man, but I feel gifted every time we get together and you call me friend. Thank you. More than you can know, thank you!
Andy and Nicola.
Thank you for the time that we have had together. I've enjoyed every minute, and look forward to the future. My weekly drinking buddy, arguing partner, and all around good guy, I'm thankful that I met you. I look forward to more beer, and meeting the little one when he arrives.
Walter.
We have talked a little over e-mail, but I was sufficiently intrigued by our first meeting that I look forward to our next get-together.
There have been many others, and I apologize for not including them in this list. There is one, however, that I must include...
Greg.
I miss you, man. I still haven't gotten over the loss, and I hope I never do. You were a brother to me, a loved one, one whose life was ended far too soon, and for no good reason. I know there will come a time when I will make peace with my loss, but until then, there's a hole in my life, and a piece that just doesn't fit. I'll meet you at the crossroads, brother. I know I will.
To all those who come by, thank you. I haven't been a good host, with my frequent absences and bad grammar, so thanks for sticking with me.
Have a wonderful New Years, and remember those that are no longer with us, as well as those who are here.
Alcoholically yours, and hoping this year will be better than the last,
Matt

How was NYE? We watched Minority Report - went up to Estes Park yesterday.

It was decent. Good wine, good food, great company.
Posted by: Matt on January 2, 2003 09:45 AMBig weekend plans?
Posted by: andy on January 2, 2003 11:35 AMWe'll be heading up to the mountains with some friends we haven't seen in a while. Nothing incredibly exciting, though I'm stoked. I'll be attempting to break my record at the highspeed face-first snowboard wreck (old record - 40 feet!), and Ali will be there to laugh. Maybe one day I'll get some pictures.
You?
